Write to your MP about the changes to the Winter Fuel Payment

At Independent Age, we are deeply disappointed that the Chancellor has continued to push ahead with changes to the Winter Fuel Payment at the recent Budget. Around two million older people already live in poverty, dealing with sky-high household costs and often living in precarious housing. For hundreds of thousands of people in this group who won't receive Pension Credit, they face being plunged into further financial difficulty.

It is vital that the UK Government take urgent action to mitigate the potentially disastrous consequences. Older people in financial hardship need both short-term relief to help them cope with losing the Winter Fuel Payment, as well as long-term solutions to make sure that everyone has the means to live in security and dignity as they age.

Will you email your MP asking them to push the UK Government to mitigate the impact of restricting the Winter Fuel Payment and do more to support older people in financial hardship?
