Email your MP about water bills

Water bills are set to rise once again. In April, they will increase by an average of 5.4%, including an average rise of £57 in one area. We know this will hit older people hard who are already struggling to make ends meet. Last week, the UK Government released a White Paper outlining reforms they intend to make to the water sector. In light of the announcement about rising bills, we are very disappointed that the UK Government has not taken the opportunity to protect older people on a low income from high prices.

Under the current postcode lottery of support, eligibility criteria and the amount of money you get off your bill vary signficantly by water company. That’s why we’re asking the UK Government to introduce a national social tariff for customers struggling with their water bills.

Will you email your MP to ask them to write the Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in support of a national social tariff for water bills?
